Sydney Gray

Sydney graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN with a Bachelors in Neuroscience. She was fascinated by the psychology and human behavior courses taken. Those courses, along with her passion for helping individuals, led to her pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at East Carolina University. She is currently entering her second year as a counselor in training and is ready to gain experience helping individuals in sessions.

Sydney is currently open to working with all populations. She especially finds herself drawn to the child, adolescent, and early adulthood stages in an individual’s life. Sydney has previous counseling experience working with individuals with substance use disorders. With this experience and courses taken at ECU, she feels well prepared and excited to enter a therapeutic relationship with individuals from differing backgrounds.

As Sydney is still in training, she does not have one specific therapeutic technique that she works from. Rather, she is hoping to gain experience and experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and sprinkle in various theories such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Reality Therapy. Sydney is passionate about meeting her clients where they are and exploring various theories and techniques that work best with their personality and learning style.

Sydney enjoys spending time outdoors, relaxing at the beach to going for walks and runs. She enjoys reading, cooking, and baking. Sydney especially enjoys quality me spent with her friends and family. She has been enjoying the warmer weather that North Carolina has to offer, especially in the winter.
